Midway Farms, Corvallis/Albany Oregon. We are a small farm going beyond organic to biodynamic. We focus on the wild life by building habitat, depending on Mother Nature rather than fighting her. It is important to us to build a healthy ecosystem on our farm – our home.

At the age of eight, Cynthia Kapple started selling organicly grown produce from their family garden to help them make ends meet. She pulled her little red wagon of fresh produce from neighbor to neighbor. “I remember the joy and excitment as the neighbors called each other when they saw me coming. They didn’t want to miss out.”

In 1998, Cynthia started working 2.7 acres to supply her family and farm stand with fresh produce, cut flowers and eggs. Now she also provides a place for her neighbors to sell the fruits of their various labors, 32 families now contribute theirwears to Midway Farms. Cynthia’s farm is much more than just a produce stand. Among her offerings are fresh milk, butter, free range chicken eggs, cheeses and yogurt, jams, jellies and honey, locally grown beef, chicken and rabbit. She also have an assortment of Gluten-Free baked goods from cookies to pizza crust. Further still her farm can be considered a gift shop with a nice variety of locally made products including cards, soaps, lotions, linens and jewelry, homemade toys, garden art and much more.

Cynthia clearly enjoys this community-building aspect of her farm stand business. She often does not monetarily benefit from her neighbors’ items, but she does benefit from the added diversity they bring to her venture. This, she explains, is why she calls it Midway Farms (plural), she sees it as a multi-family venture. They are a “Farm Family”. Cynthia’s kids, husband and a neighbor-friend also help out on the farm, contributing energy and learning skills.
